Chopper rides at Chios, Greece

It was an occasion to ride due to the hospitality we offered to some Turkish friends of the Annex of Chios Chopper Riders Club Hellas. The weekend 16 and 17 February was truly gratifying in several ways. The good weather, the route, the joy of watching an entire procession of machines to go ride together and above all good company composed a special experience for me that it was the first time I took part in it but also for those who have done it before and will do it again. Each ride is also different.

The club welcomed friends from ... opposite - and more specifically from the Smyrna – on Friday. We who met them that day we felt immediately a positive atmosphere and the friendliness of the whole gang and heard many times the word Brother. So like a big company with lacing reminiscent loving family we went out that night, laughed at the jokes and the shocking collusion between us was a little in Greek, a little in Turkish, some in English, and a little French. However, we got the tip of it, good humor there was.

On Saturday even the minimal drizzle was stopped which persistently fell until Friday evening. The roads were dry and already waiting for us. We started from Grecian Castle, a beach front hotel just after the harbor on the way to the airport which the previous day reminded a Harley-Davidson's sales front. First destination Pyrgi.
The street was filled with motorbikes and people gazing the procession in amazement and admiration. Got my eye on some taking pictures. To tell the truth, I would do the same.

Some time afterwords the square of Pyrgi filled with motorbikes. The owner of the cafe pulled out tables, chairs and souma before we even see him. The scraped, the hallmark of local architecture had to give something more to the souvenir photos. Our friends the Turks found time to buy some mastic and some of them to see the hidden architectural treasures of the village before the motorbikes ridden again towards Mesta.
Fifteen minutes later we greeted the walls of the medieval castle village. The motorbikes stayed out, at the narrow streets before the entrance, since no vehicles are allowed. In the square hot coffee, donuts and a little more coolness were expecting since the stone houses keep the heat away from the village center. The day had the grace to be pleasant and quite warm for the time and so we enjoyed our visit at the most.

Last stop on Saturday was Lithi, one of the most popular summer destinations of the island but still cozy for the winter visitors. A small tavern and a smile at the edge of the calm sea ... But we did not let the quiet take charge. The temperament of our Turkish friends filled the beach with music coming from the sound systems of their motorbikes.

We left when it was still light in the best mood on our the way back. The journey was over for the day but not for the weekend because we had still ahead the second part.

On the road again, this time for Avgonima. The group had to leave at four o'clock in the afternoon, so there were no stops at other places. Like the previous day, so this time the good company was the best thing of the route.

I close this article with the best memories and best wishes to my friends from both countries. The streets are open and await for us. Happy rides :)
