Bitter stone, well tried, standing proud”
these are the words the well known poet, Odusseas Elytis, uses to describe the island Thera, or as it is commonly known, Santorini, a place that without doubt has a “dangerous” beauty. Despite its active volcanic activity, it is one of the most favorite destinations for tourists, attracting visitors from all around the globe.

It is almost impossible not to fall in love with Santorini. This island has something special to it.. This place has a cosmopolitan touch to it, with beautiful beaches everywhere and a sun set that the human eye will not meet in any other part of this world.
The island is full of protected settlements, some of them are at the edge of Kalntera, such as Imerovigli and Oia these two places are well known for their natural beauty and the panoramic view they offer us. Also, if you have the urge for exploring you can sail from Oia to the volcano, admire the gulf of Kalntera, and also experience the Hot water springs located between two volcanic islands, Palaia and Nea Kameni.

Due to the large number of tourists attracted annually, the island has become a place with remarkable touristic infrastructure. Fira is capital of the island, there we can observe a harmonic blending of Venetian and Cycladic architecture, and is therefore the center of all activities, including nightlife. Walking down the picturesque paths, a visitor can find everything he may be seeking, as there are plenty of small and large shops, restaurants and also cafeterias with a stunning view. Under Fira is the old port of Santorini. In the old days people had access to it either by walking or riding donkeys. Nowadays a road has been built but there are also the alternative ways such as a cable car or donkeys for the tourists to use.

Santorini's geographical structure and volcanic activity has formed beaches with natural beauty hard to be found elsewhere. The shores have stunning features and can please even the most demanding visitors. One of the most popular beaches is Kokkini paralia, where visitors can admire the dark blue color of the water, and the red, white and black color of the rocks and pebbles. When visiting the south areas of the island, you will come across one of the most extraordinary beaches of the island called the white beach, Lefki paralia and is named from the white rocks that surround the place, with beautiful formations due to the salt and water that has shaped them throughout the years.
An also well known beach is at Kamari, and s always full of people as there are many water sports and activities, and also has many cafeterias and bars on the beach.
If you are seeking a quiet place to go for swimming we recommend the beaches of Vlychada ans Agios Georgios.
Santorini is a very special place full of mysteries and unique characteristics, so visit and indulge yourself in the natural beauties of this island.
